This wonderful journey starts by picking you up from your hotel and depart early from Muscat heading towards the al Dakhiliyah region. On the way we can make photo short stops upon your wish. It takes about 2.5 hours to reach Al Hamra governorate which is one of the oldest best-preserved towns of Oman, having been established in the 17th century during the Ya'arubi dynasty. One can enjoy walking to the old houses built on top of solid rocks through a winding stone streets and rows of traditional mud-brick homes under the shadow of the palm trees. It is really an exceptional experience to visit the home of the Bait Al Safah living museum and see the locals practice the traditions, norms and roles of the Omani people in the past such as how women bake traditional bread, how they made flour, and how they made oils from different nuts and how they used to roast coffee beans and grind them the feel will take you hundreds of years back.
Then we will drive up the Mountain of jebal shams to the stunning Grand Canyon of Oman. We can spend the afternoon hiking as also known as the Balcony Walk. It is about 4km hike (in each direction) with around 200 meters in elevation change and takes around 3-4 hours depending on how many photo and food breaks you take. The most beautiful part of hiking the Jebel Shams Balcony Walk is that you will be walking along the edge of the cliff while peering into the impressive depth of Wadi Ghul. The route ends at an abandoned village with a permanent pool of water in the rocky overhang above. In the late afternoon, once ever one get satisfied with this journy we drive back to Muscat.
